Native to the Southern Appalachian Mountains, the 3-5' tall sulfur yellow lupine-like flowers appear like beacons in open meadows. Bees and butterflies are attracted to the upright flowers that also resemble Baptisia tinctoria. In the garden, place in the middle to back of the border, and cut back after the first flowering to encourage a second round. Plant 24" apart.
